FROM THE CEO
To Our Members
I feel honored to write this letter to all of you, our valued members, as the CEO and President of Maine Savings. As I reflect on my career here at Maine Savings, I remember the day I was finally hired to be a full-time teller in Hampden in November 2004. I had graduated from Smith College in May 2003 and worked in New York for a while, quickly realizing that Maine is home for me. I returned to Maine in February 2004 and I applied for many jobs, including a part-time teller position in Hampden, for which I interviewed and was not hired. I spent my spring, summer and fall of 2004 working many different jobs, all part-time; I was learning a lot about life and gaining work experience. I was delighted to receive a call from the Human Resources Department in early November 2004 to interview for a full-time teller position at Maine Savings, again in Hampden. The interview went well and I started my career here on November 29, 2004.
In my 18 years at Maine Savings, I have held a variety of positions in most of the departments, and I joined the senior leadership team in January 2015. I was able to further my education while working here and earned my Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management between 2013 and 2015; this was only possible with the tremendous support of Maine Savings. In the last eight years, I have continued to enjoy a rewarding career that has allowed me to use my project management skills as well as my leadership skills. I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy helping to grow Maine Savings, along with the support, collaboration and partnership of our senior leadership team and our passionate and talented employees.
I was humbled and honored to be chosen as John Reed’s successor, when he announced his plan to retire two years ago. He and I spent the last two years working closely together to ensure the transition was positive and peaceful as well as embracing full transparency with our employees, members and the communities we are proud to serve. As I embark on my first week as CEO and President, I am confident that Maine Savings is as strong as ever and we continue to live our Mission, Values and Promise with conviction and pride!
It is with great joy that I continue to celebrate the amazing Credit Union that Maine Savings is and continues to be. It is my goal for Maine Savings and our employees that we are here to meet your needs wherever your life’s journey takes you. May we guide you and support you in your financial goals. May we be your trusted partners and advisors in making important decisions. May we together, chart a course for a future that is bright, bold, beautiful and blessed!
